VACCINATIONS

CLASSIFICATION OF VACCINATIONS

In the Czech Republic, vaccinations are divided into three categories:
Mandatory: fully covered by health insurance.
Optional (covered): fully or partially covered by health insurance.
Optional (not covered): paid for in full by the parents (patient).

Thanks to modern combination vaccines, children today receive only 7 doses of mandatory vaccinations. For comparison: in 2005, there were eighteen.

Each vaccination places an increased burden on the body, which is why we vaccinate only healthy children. The evening before vaccination, check to see if your child has a fever.

WHEN DO WE POSTPONE VACCINATION?

To ensure maximum safety, we postpone vaccination in the following cases:

• Acute allergic reactions: Pollen allergy in full swing, worsening of atopic eczema, hives, etc.
• Incubation period: If the child (or a family member or close contact) has been in contact with an infectious disease (e.g., chickenpox, scarlet fever).

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR CHILD AFTER VACCINATION?

The vaccination itself is, of course, safe, but it’s still important to give your child extra attention and care.
In particular, please follow these steps:
Stay with us for half an hour. Please wait with us in the waiting room for 30 minutes—we want to make sure everything is okay.
A quiet day. Plan a more relaxed schedule for the rest of the day. Fatigue, a slight fever, or tenderness at the injection site are common reactions that will subside on their own.
When to call a doctor? If the temperature exceeds 39 °C, the child cries inconsolably, or an allergic rash appears, contact us immediately.
